Shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm

*Candidates must have at least two (2) years of experience in an employee health or occupational health setting, along with two (2) years of experience as a medical assistant.

Job Description:

PATIENT POPULATION:
The patient population served can be all patients, including at times the family members of employees, and at times community members. The population served may include geriatric, adult, adolescent and pediatric. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the department Leader(s) and in collaboration with the Employee Health Services Supervisor, and the Healthcare Provider, the medical assistant supports Employee Health Services daily functions which includes assisting as needed in pre-employment physicals wellness initiatives, regulatory requirements, safety issues, and workers compensation record keeping. The medical assistant collects and organizes data for reporting and monitoring of regulatory compliance needs. The medical assistant supports wellness and injury prevention employee health initiatives by completing basic ergonomic evaluations, data collection for ergonomics log and other data collection for employee health initiatives as assigned. Additionally the medical assistant assists with on-going COVID monitoring as required by regulations. The medical assistant prepares exam rooms, provides point-of-care testing, performs technical services within their Scope of Practice and collects lab specimens as directed. The Medical Assistant also provides patients with health information as directed by the physician, and performs other patient care related duties as requested.

Must be able to work normal/scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the knowledge and skills typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent experience. Must have at least two (2) years of experience in an employee health or occupational health setting, along with two (2) years of experience as a medical assistant.


Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to speak English, write legibly, and read, understand and follow directions. Have a basic understanding of Medical Terminology.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office and be familiar with running and generating reports.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess, as a minimum, certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (clinical). Must have and maintain BLS certification or obtain within the orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
