Position Overview

City Year Denver is seeking a mission-driven leader to serve as our next Impact Director—a key role that shapes the learning, development, and success of AmeriCorps members serving in classrooms across Denver Public Schools. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people’s development as community leaders, youth development practitioners, and educators while ensuring their preparation for an impactful year of service in schools.

The Impact Director leads City Year Denver’s learning and development strategy, workforce development pathways programs, and AmeriCorps member experience. This includes overseeing our participation within the Youth Mental Health Corps (a public-private initiative providing Corps members with behavioral health credentials), training and coaching for our Teaching Fellows, and practice integration for our Social Work Fellows.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a collaborative and purpose-driven professional to lead transformative learning experiences, drive program excellence, and help shape the next generation of educators and community leaders.

The Impact Director is an individual contributor supervised by the Managing Director of Impact and working alongside a team of Impact Managers.

City Year is an education-focused nonprofit organization that partners with public schools to help keep students in school and on-track to graduate. City Year recruits young people aged 17-25 to serve as AmeriCorps members to commit to a year of full-time service in schools where they operate as Student Success Coaches by tutoring and mentoring students while acting as a “second adult” in classrooms. Impact Director Areas of Responsibility: 

Learning & Development (40%) 

• Lead the vision, design, and implementation of a comprehensive learning and development program that supports the growth of AmeriCorps members across multiple position classifications, including Student Success Coaches, Service Leaders, Teaching Fellows, and Social Work Fellows. 

• Support the Impact team in aligning observation and coaching practices with the learning & development strategy. 

• Continuously evaluate and improve the learning and development program using qualitative and quantitative feedback from AmeriCorps members, staff, and partners to ensure training is relevant, responsive, inclusive, and outcomes driven. 

• Support AmeriCorps members’ post-service planning through Leadership After City Year (LACY) programming by facilitating access to career exploration, graduate school pathways, and workforce development opportunities.
