Job Purpose and Overview
The People Generalist II provides support in a wide variety of areas in partnership with the Distribution and Supply Chain Services People Team. A key role within the People Team, The PG II will deliver services that will enable the function to work more strategically while ensuring best in class people services to all Dawn Team Members. This role can be remote, with limited travel, and will also be looked upon as back-up support for People Business Partners (PBPs) within DSSC.
This is a Remote position with Less than 25% of Travel Required.
What will you do as a People Generalist at Dawn Foods?
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute team member services including but not limited to onboarding, compensation, benefits and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; recognition; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Coordinate with benefit vendors, payroll department, and accounting to ensure accurate payments are processed. Help inform team members of on-going changes to the benefits structure and policies. Resolve team member issues with insurance providers and other benefits vendors.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate level.
- Respond to employee questions; investigate and resolve issues and inquiries.
- Maintain Team Member (TM) file information, including maintaining and updating hard-copy files.
- Work closely with Team Member’s on Leaves, tracking, communicating with all Leaders/TM’s in need of or on/off active Leaves.
- Comply with federal, state, and city laws and regulations as well as company policies concerning team member services.
- Work with the people team to evaluate and/or design company HR policies/procedures, research changes in HR law, and recommend, implement, and enforce the changes within the plant leadership team and organization. Demonstrate knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Schedule and conduct employment interviews and serve as a key contact in subsequent hiring decision-making process.
- Lead and participate in new-hire orientation presentations and meetings.
- Partner with HR peers and Dawn leaders on various topics and projects as needed.
- Represent Dawn Foods in Technical School partnerships, such as community college recruiting and job fairs, etc.
- Conduct exit interviews and provide summary of interview findings to improve retention.
- Provide analytical support by analyzing data related to a variety of programs and issues.
- Partner with DC leadership team, people team, and talent management for talent development-related activities.
- Lead, conduct, or assist with benefits presentations or wellness program administration.
- Administer actions and paperwork for promotions, transfers, salary increases, terminations, leave management, and other Team Member requirements.
- Administer and process claims for workers' compensation, unemployment, disability, and leaves of absence. Manage local worker’s compensation programs, in conjunction with safety leadership and corporate administrators.
- Coordinate and/or lead teams to identify and implement Engagement Survey Action Items.
- Demonstrates the “Dawn Values” of Team Dawn and supports the Circle of Excellence.

What Does It Take to be a People Generalist at Dawn Foods?
- Associate degree in human resources, Industrial Relations, or other related business field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
