Import/Export Compliance Coordinator

The Import/Export Compliance Coordinator is responsible for handling import and/or export transactions from request for quote to delivery and invoicing, with oversight and guidance from senior import/export compliance personnel. Responsibilities include transaction processing, transaction due diligence, recordkeeping, tracking and troubleshooting international shipments, and coordination with business partners, freight forwarders and customs brokers, and various internal departments.
Qualified candidates for this opportunity will consider themself strongly proficient in communication, organization and attention to detail. In addition, AVL's world is consistently changing and evolving, and this role will also be required to adapt and change direction as needed. A bachelor's degree OR 4+ years of experience are required for this position.
AVL will also consider intern to direct candidates.

Responsibilities:
- Utilizes knowledge of Incoterms.
- Approves documents from suppliers and affiliates to ensure correct information is listed for customs compliance for import shipments.
- Properly classifies import shipments with correct HTS#, valuation, country of origin, OGA/PGA
- Utilizes knowledge of FDA and EPA requirements for import shipments.
- Tracks all international shipments and resolve shipment delays or customs delays.
- Coordinates deliveries of import shipments.
- Works closely with customs brokers to ensure proper duties/taxes and PGA requirements are met.
- Performs special tasks related to import operations as assigned.
- Prepares export documentation – proforma invoices and SLIs.
- Utilizes knowledge of Export Control Regulations – EAR, ITAR, OFAC, BIS
- Ensures compliance on all export shipments – ECCN, EAR, ITAR, OFAC
- Performs special tasks related to export operations as assigned.
- Maintains HTS# database.
- Works closely with Logistics, Purchasing, and AVL Affiliates to ensure compliance with global trade.
- Conducts post-import and post-export review of documentation for accuracy/recordkeeping.
- Obtains import and export quotes for airfreight and ocean freight from forwarders.
- All other tasks as assigned.
