We are hiring! Atkins is seeking a Tax Accountant to join our team in Tampa, FL.
This role will be responsible for the preparation of sales and use, gross receipts, and income tax returns along with supporting documentation in a fast-paced environment to ensure the company meets its tax reporting obligations.
This is a full-time position Monday to Friday in a hybrid work environment that requires to be on-site at least 2 days a week.

How will you contribute to the team?
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual non-income tax returns, including sales and use, property, franchise, gross receipts, and foreign withholding taxes.
- Prepare and file Canadian GST/HST, Puerto Rico B2B and other indirect tax returns for various foreign jurisdictions.
- Answer sales and use taxability and rate inquiries from internal business partners.
- Responds to tax notices and inquiries from internal audit, external audit, and government agencies.
- Compile and analyze data to create workpapers to support federal and state income tax filings. Proactively and effectively work with others within the company to gather information. Analyze and understand the information provided. Timely follow up on outstanding items and questions.
- Perform month-end close activities which include reconciliations, reclassifications, corrections, and preparation of journal entries for tax accounts.
- Support internal and external tax audit requests and remediate issues as they occur.
- Prepare partnership tax workpapers and returns.
- Research applicable tax law for tax compliance, taxability issues and special projects including preparation of position papers that analyze statues, regulations, rulings, case law and other relevant authority.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements, workflow alignment and streamlining.
- Performs other assignments and duties as assigned.
What will you contribute?
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in public accounting or a multinational corporate environment.
- Prior experience in state and local non-income tax compliance.
- Federal and state income tax compliance preferred.
- Solid understanding of GAAP accounting rules required. IFRS knowledge preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and solid understanding of account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Motivated self-starter who embraces change and owns their job responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Oracle and OneSource income tax compliance software preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office application skills, with a particular focus on Excel. Ability to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization and to represent the company professionally.
