Job Description
The design of electric motors for passenger cars and commercial vehicles is becoming essential to mobility globally as well as in the US. We are looking for someone to join and integrate into a global team centered on working with established and start-up vehicle manufacturers. This position will focus on the design of the electromagnetic circuit for electric traction drives and going from concept to mass production. Our team works directly with vehicle manufacturers to meet the needs for next generation electric powertrains for both hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
- Lead technical discussions for acquisition and design of electric machines
- Manage and assess technical requirements for customer traction motor applications
- Conduct simulation of electric motor designs concerning electromagnetic layout and effects on motor performance and efficiency
- Work across multiple disciplines to assist in electromagnetic and mechanical design of full traction motor systems
- Participate in customer meetings and internal development activities
- Collect and document motor functional requirements from OEM customers and define top-down and bottom-up needs
- Ability to travel internationally for trainings and customer meetings (2-3x per year international, 2-3x per year domestic)
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 1 or more years of experience in automotive traction motor development
- 2 or more years in electrical machine design experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering
- Published thesis in electromagnetic machine design (MS or Ph.D.)
- Experience with Matlab code development
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- German language experience (reading comprehension and spoken)
