Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Associate Chemist to join our dynamic (and fast pace) team. This position plays a key role in supporting the preparation, testing, and analysis of metallic materials in accordance with industry standards such as ASTM and NADCAP.

Salary: $24- $27/hour (Depending On Experience) + $1.00 Shift Differential
Shift: 12:30-9:00pm
Responsibilities
- Prepare and test metallic specimens for both gas lab and x-ray lab.
- Execute established lab procedures and testing sequences; calibrate instruments according to defined protocols.
- Apply knowledge of ASTM and NADCAP specifications to ensure compliance during testing.
- Responsible (with colleagues) to calibrate instruments and other test equipment.
- Conduct preventative maintenance of equipment and inspection of components for defects.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot basic equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Support documentation efforts by revising and reviewing test procedures as needed.
- Adjust and fine-tune equipment for specific alloy requirements in the PCC service center (customer).
Utilize Excel and Word to record, analyze, and report lab data effectively.
Maintain detailed and accurate entries in required logbooks.
- Work closely with team members and quality personnel to ensure reliable and timely test results
Skills / Qualifications
This is a fast-paced environment, and we need someone who is proactive, self-motivated and a team player. The person for this role will be a specialist in their field, respected by all who they work with, keen to learn and enthusiastic in the face of challenge. You will need:
- Associates Degree in a science discipline (Bachelors is a plus)
- 1 year of experience in a chemistry testing lab or in a related field
Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply technical documentation (Standard Operating Procedures or lab procedures)
Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues independently
Comfort with mathematics and algebraic formulas used in testing and calculations (rounding rules)
Effective verbal and written communication skills
A collaborative attitude and proven ability to work in a team environment
A demonstrated sense of urgency, commitment to quality, and professionalism in customer-focused settings
Work Environment:
Working with a variety of metals such as stainless steel, titanium, aluminum, and nickel-based alloys
Handling chemicals and test samples using analytical instruments like ICP-OES, AAS, titrators, and XRF
Operating in lab and industrial settings, often requiring standing for extended periods
Regular use of PPE, including lab coats, gloves, and safety glasses
Exposure to furnaces, fume hoods, and other lab equipment
Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs
Close collaboration with metallurgy, and quality control teams
