A Day in the Life

As a Senior Manager, US Strategic Pricing, you will be responsible for developing and implementing pricing and contracting strategies across all Medtronic diabetes brands and customer channels, including Commercial, Medicaid, Medicare, Distribution, etc. The position supports the Pricing Committee Approval Process and works cross-functionally with Payer Account Management, Finance, and Market Access teams to create comprehensive pricing proposals. Overtime the functional responsibilities will evolve to include contracting analytics, with the addition of several analysts.

This role reports to the VP, Americas Market Access. This is a remote position.

Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic Pricing

  • Plan and develop pricing market research and analysis   
  • Represent the US and provide feedback on global strategy, localize and identify deviations needed
  • Identify annual price increase opportunities and forecast net price, as part of price forecasting and strategic plan process, in Pharmacy, DME, and other channels 
  • Develop financial modeling, including pricing model upkeep and improvement
  • Assess and model scenarios for impacts/risks/opportunities of proposed government legislation, payer and environmental changes
  • Facilitate US Pricing Council and price escalations as part of price governance process; act on issues where pricing strategy not followed; support preparation and presentation of business cases to Pricing Council
  • Work cross functionally with Finance, and Commercial Teams to project and monitoring payer mix and net prices; monitor monthly price increase actuals vs. target, drive remediation if needed

Pricing Management

  • Review and update US list prices annually 
  • Develop and maintain channel specific target and floor prices
  • Maintain pricing intelligence including environmental trends and knowledge of pricing and market access requirements across customer segments
  • Identify and anticipate key trends and assess opportunities and risks for pricing strategy development

Contracting & Analysis

  • Collaborate with Payer Account Management Teams to provide input into contract development, administration, and performance
  • Develop and conduct financial models and gross to net analytics in pharmacy supply chains, working collaboratively with Finance partners
  • Future: Manage data analysts to support contract performance analysis

Other Activities

  • Motivate and influence cross-functional team members in achievement of goals
  • Provide regular feedback to management regarding project status as well as other critical issues
  • Support internal analysis and insights requests from Senior Leadership and Investor Relations
  • Implement global pricing function best practices and programs within US
  • Manage other high-impact projects and duties as assigned, including set-up of new pricing systems and processes 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of work experience and 5+ years of managerial experience
  • Or, advanced degree with 5 years of experience and 5+ years of managerial experience
