Primary Purpose:

Ensures the financial records are complete, accurate and maintained following generally accepted accounting standards. Analyzes the monthly results and presenting to senior leadership. Manages efficient operation of the department, including supervision and review of staff.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates timelyand accuratepreparationand distributionof monthlyfinancialstatements,physician network's reporting packageand monthlyfinancial analysissummarizingtheresults for thesenior leadership.
  • Provide oversight of the Department's clinical faculty incentive program, tracks productivity and develops compensation recommendations for Chair approval. Communicates with faculty concerning compensation matters and collaboratively provides input into developing and monitoring the incentive program. Monitor performance, quarterly payouts, make recommendations for changes, and provide financial analyses. Incorporates operational, academic and research initiatives into the mechanics of the compensation plan.
  • Assists in developing compensation models with affiliate/acquired and employed physicians associated with the department. Make recommendations for updates / additions to faculty performance metrics and develop monitoring tools that can be transparently quantified aligning with strategic, quality and operational goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring that funds are accrued correctly for provider compensation, this will require a deep knowledge of the faculty compensation plan and process.
  • Assists in the completion of physician and APP proformas, tracking performance to plan.
  • Reconciles monthly expenditures as it relates to funds flow allocation, and constant tracking of department/departments faculty/physicians and APPs to Medical Group Standards.
  • Ownership of Medical Group budget for assigned areas, including monthly variance reporting, and budget preparation.
  • Collaborates with Service Line and Department leadership on all areas of responsibility.
  • Integratesfinancial andoperational objectives and initiatives into annualbudgetand 5-year forecast. Effectivelyplans and manages theannual budget processand maintainsthe5-yearforecast withinestablishedguidelines.
  • Manages strategic cashinitiatives.
  • Manages audit of Provider Compensation.
  • Ensures reviewandapproval ofjournal entries byappropriatepersonnelperSystempolicy. Ensures reviewandapproval ofaccount reconciliations byappropriate personneland ensures suchare preparedona timelybasis. Ensuresthatthe System's records and financial statementsare maintainedin accordancewithgenerallyacceptedaccounting principles.
  • Monitors theworkload and methodologies usedtoachieveresults,makingrecommendationstoimproveefficiencyand/or achievecostsavings wheneverpossible.
  • Maintains Ad-Hocfinancial analysis projects initiatedbySenior Leadership.Leads anddevelops staff.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration with a concentration in accounting required. Master of Business Administration preferred. CPA strongly preferred.

Work Experience

5 to 7 years industry experience preferably in a controller role. Prior experience with People Soft and Kaufman Hall planning products preferred. Must have expertise with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Works in an office environment, sitting at a desk, working with a computer, talking on the telephone, and preparing reports and other statistical data. Some of the time is spent in meetings at a variety of facilities, making presentations and providing recommendations to System executives. On occasion, requires standing, walking and traveling in personal car to other facilities. Also occasionally requires the carrying of up to 20 pounds of materials (files, projectors, laptops).
