Mayo Clinic

About the role

Mayo Clinic Arizona is in need of a full time Clinical Neuropsychologist to join the Division of Psychology. This position will include performing clinical functional MRI (fMRI) and tractography evaluations for presurgical patients in addition to performing diagnostic neuropsychology outpatient assessments. Evaluations involve a diverse, primarily adult, patient population with complex medical problems typical of a major tertiary referral center.  The ideal candidate will have experience with fMRI, although experience restricted to research fMRI may be acceptable as further training will be provided.  A major focus for institutional growth is neurosurgical populations such as epilepsy, brain tumors, Moya Moya, and other vascular abnormalities, resulting in increased referrals for fMRI, DTI, and awake brain mapping services. Mayo Clinic Arizona’s outpatient neuropsychology provides consultative, diagnostic neuropsychological evaluation with a range of adult patients, but common patient populations include neurodegenerative disorders, movement disorders, epilepsy, and cognitive complaints in medically complex patients (e.g., transplant patients, cancer patients, autoimmune and other viral presentations, etc. ). The service is adult-focused, although some epilepsy and concussion patients are adolescents.  Other services (e.g. Neurology) have begun offering services to adolescents such that lifespan experience would be of benefit, but the primary focus of the service will remain adult.

Bilingual/bicultural Spanish evaluation skills would be welcome, but not required.

The successful candidate would join a very strong collaborative psychology division with five other full time neuropsychologists who utilize 10 psychometrists, 7 full time clinical health psychologists, and two LCSW therapists. We are well-integrated within a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with both neurosurgery and neurology.

We are currently recruiting our first APPCN post-doctoral fellow, and we collaborate closely with the Rochester and Jacksonville locations.  Also, teaching opportunities are available in graduate medical education as Mayo Clinic Arizona has medical students, residents, and fellows in 29 different specialties.  This position includes an academic appointment with the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic.  Opportunities for research collaborations are also available.

Board-certification in clinical neuropsychology through the American Board of Professional Psychology is required. If not already board certified, achievement or significant progress toward achievement of certification is expected in the first three years of employment. The practice functions in two settings: the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix and the outpatient clinic at Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.  There is regular contact with the neuropsychology practices at other Mayo Clinic locations including Rochester, Minnesota; the Health System in Minnesota and Wisconsin; and Jacksonville, Florida.
