Sentara Norfolk General Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a RN Team Coordinator (Assistant Nurse Manager) for the Burn Trauma, Intermediate Care - Medical/Surgical Unit!   

 

Position is Full Time, Rotating Shifts.

Unit Summary:

Burn Trauma is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit.   There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care.  The patient population is neurosurgery, trauma, burns and orthopedic trauma. The intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Also, there are 17 beds for Medical/Surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss (gastric bypass and gastric sleeves). Our nurses are trained to work both the intermediate and the medical surgical side.   The nurse to patient ratio for the Intermediate Care beds are 3 to 4 and for the Medical/Surgical beds are 5 to 6. The Registered Nurse will work in a collaborative role as part of a team to maintain and support the standards of nursing care and practice, to meet the health care needs of patients, their families, and the community.

Position Summary:

  • Position shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas.
  • Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff.
  • Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team.

Qualifications:

  • RN License
  • 3 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • BSN required/MSN preferred
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
