Job Summary:
The Shipping Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the warehouse activities to meet the needs of Production and Logistics. The Shipping Supervisor will be responsible for reporting daily to the Transportation Manager and Shipping Coordinators on any and all updates related to the shipping schedule or employee issues, problems at the Warehouse or Plant. The Supervisor will direct the Team Leads on all three (3) shifts on daily tasks to be performed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Monitor daily the safety of all shipping personnel.
- The primary focus of this position, after safety, is leading our people and allocating freight assets to ensure on time delivery of our products to our customers. Specifically, this position is responsible for ensuring a shipping planner, detailing all customer deliveries, is maintained, updated, and communicated within our organization. This position is the primary point of contact for the status of all plant deliveries.
- In support of ensuring on time delivery of our products to our customers, this position is also responsible for the safe operation of our warehouse. This includes maintaining accurate inventory counts, maintaining all inventory is excellent condition, and ensuring adherence to good housekeeping practices.
- This position leads and directs all the forklift operators and bander operators to ensure maximum throughput of finished goods from our production operations.
- Complete necessary paperwork/reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to shipping data, safety reports and inventory data.
- Provide daily updates to the Transportation Manager, Shipping Coordinator and Customer Service relative to delayed loads, shortages, and inventory adjustments.
- Monitor workflow through department and warehouse to ensure dock dates and delivery schedules are being met. This includes customer pickups and common carrier loads are ready to be loaded.
- Complete necessary paperwork/reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to shipping data, safety reports and inventory data.
- Adhere to daily production schedule and assist the Shipping Coordinator and Dispatch in meeting our customers’ requirements.
- Maintain an accurate location of stock with monthly cycle counts. Assure FIFO practices are implemented and followed consistently.
- Monitor aged inventory and work with Sales/Customer Service for disposition.
- Oversee receiving and inventory of Raw Materials, WIP materials and resale components.
- Review special order instructions, high risk product and special pallet requirements to ensure we are meeting customers’ specifications.
- Coordinate repairs of dock doors, dock levelers, and other property and equipment in shipping and the warehouse.
- Keep management informed of any problems or situations that may affect the performance of your department.
- Communicate with Team Leads all expectations for completing daily assignments and all planning and activities.
- Conduct safety meetings with all departmental employees with Team Leads.
- Demonstrate fairness, consistency, and an interest in employee issues/concerns. Maintain confidentiality.
- Monitor all operations in the warehouse for effectiveness and adjust as needed after consultation with the Transportation Manager.
Other Functions:
- Responsible for ensuring material handling equipment is being kept in safe operating condition.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
- Purge Stock and destroy product. Delete units and enter notes in history after inventory is destroyed
