Build your career with IU Health! The IU Health Foundation invites applications for the position of Senior Development Officer with the IU Health Philanthropy team. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, creative, self-starter, and will be central to helping advance the health and well-being of all Hoosiers. 

The Senior Development Officer is part of the IU Health Foundation and is responsible for relationship building with potential donors, key stakeholders, and community leaders, and cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from a portfolio of assigned constituents. The Senior Development Officer conducts a minimum of 100 face to face fundraising and minimum of 20 stewardship related meetings with potential donors, Foundation partners, and community leaders each year. In addition, the Senior Development Officer is responsible for managing relationships with volunteers and other key partners. 

We are looking for a candidate with extensive history working with donors, healthcare system experience, and preferably, cancer/oncology related work. This role will be closely aligned with our partners at the IU Health Simon Cancer Center, an advanced and leading-edge cancer care provider in the United States. 

A bachelor’s degree is required, and additional degrees/certifications preferred. Five to seven years of prior fundraising experience, preferably in healthcare, is preferred. The Senior Development Officer should be familiar with healthcare fundraising standards and best practices including annual giving, major gifts, planned gifts, and fundraising campaigns. The position requires a high energy individual who is comfortable working in a large matrix organization. An interest in healthcare, and preferably, cancer/oncology support, and a dedication to promoting the priorities of IU Health are a must. The position requires excellent writing and persuasive communication skills; excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills; willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours; and a willingness to work within a larger team of development professionals. The position is a hybrid role with on-site work at the downtown Indianapolis Methodist tower.

In October of 2023, the IU Health Foundation launched the All the Difference Campaign. All the Difference is the largest and most audacious comprehensive fundraising campaign in the Foundation’s history, with a campaign goal of $200 million. This aligns with the one of the largest current healthcare capital projects in North America, the building of the Adult Academic Health Center in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.

We are looking for a candidate with extensive history working with donors and who has a strong history with relationship building and business development. This candidate would also be comfortable working in a department that uses performance metrics.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
• Working knowledge of fundraising software i.e. Raiser's Edge.
• Proficiency in MS office required (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with matrix organization and complex work environment preferred.
