MAJOR FUNCTION:
Performs Obstetrical Ultrasound exams as prescribed by a licensed physician, nurse practitioner or midwife according to established practices and procedures. This position specializes in Maternal Fetal Medicine sonography. Ultrasound examinations range from routine studies to high-risk obstetrical scans including but not limited to first trimester screens, detailed fetal anatomy, Doppler studies, biophysical profile, fetal echocardiography and endovaginally scans. Applicants should have a knowledge of normal and pathologic fetal anatomy and be able to perform a detailed fetal examination. They should be able to interpret anatomic and pathologic contents of images.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
- Completion of Approved Ultrasound Program. Maintain continuing education credits.
- Associates required.
- Minimum of 1- 2 years of experience in a maternal fetal medicine setting. The sonographer should have experience in assisting with interventional procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS.
- Will consider recent graduates based upon their work history on a case-by-case basis.
- Cervical Length Screening (CLEAR) minimal course work encouraged.
Certification/Licensure:
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) – registered in OB/GYN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- ARDMS Fetal echo certification preferred.
