The Director of Knowledge & Innovation Program Management plays a critical role in advancing the firm’s knowledge management and innovation strategy by designing, coordinating, and delivering complex, cross-functional programs that improve attorney efficiency, client service, and the overall competitiveness of the firm.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer to translate firmwide KM and innovation priorities into structured programs and actionable workstreams.

  • Lead cross-functional program management for major KM/AI initiatives, coordinating resources across IT, HR, Finance, Marketing/BD, and Practice Groups.

  • Work closely with designated Knowledge Management Partners to understand their key practice group and department needs, incorporating those needs into current and future planning.

  • Develop strong working relationships with the Knowledge Management Partners, helping them serve as advocates for new Knowledge Management & Innovation (KM&I) projects and identifying how these efforts can embed with current practice group approaches to further enhance client service and relationships.

  • Establish and embed program management methodologies, tools, templates, and reporting mechanisms across the firm to establish rigor, consistency, and predictability to KM&I project delivery.

  • Ensure projects are prioritized, resourced, and sequenced effectively to align with firm strategy and deliver measurable business value.

  • Ensure KM&I projects are aligned with the firm’s IT Project Management Office (PMO) and overall portfolio of projects to maximize coordination, mitigate conflicts, and deliver business value.

  • Identify, monitor, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) and success metrics for KM and innovation programs.

  • Facilitate workshops, presentations, and training sessions to support change management and drive engagement.

  • Benchmark firm programs against peer firms and other industries to identify leading practices.

  • Supervise program management staff and manage vendor or consultant relationships as needed.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Knowledge & Innovation team.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Deep knowledge of program and project management methodologies, with proven experience leading multi-stakeholder initiatives in professional services or complex organizations.

  • Strong understanding of knowledge management, innovation, and AI/technology enablement in a professional services environment.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; ability to engage credibly with and influence decision-making of senior executives, partners, and attorneys.

  • Expertise in stakeholder management, change management, and organizational alignment.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define metrics and measure outcomes.

  • Commitment to professional development, continuous learning, and fostering innovation across the firm.

  • Proficiency in common project management and collaboration tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Asana, or similar).

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, JD) preferred.

  • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in program/project management, with significant exposure to knowledge management, innovation, or technology initiatives.

  • Professional certification (PMP, PgMP, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Experience in a law firm, consulting firm, or other professional services environment strongly preferred.
