In an increasingly congested spectrum, there is a dire need to squeeze maximal capacity out of a space link. In the modern battlefield, waveforms are evolving on a weekly basis. As a Modem DSP Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and integration of signal processing algorithms spanning a multitude of communications systems. You will work side-by-side with FPGA, Software, Hardware, and Test counterparts to rapidly develop, deploy, and iterate upon algorithms for waveforms spanning a multitude of channels and environments.If you live and breathe DSP, and are seeking the freedom to build novel waveforms at breakneck speed and rapidly see them in action, this role is for you.

Responsibilities

• Own the lifetime of DSP algorithms, from initial analysis to modeling to FPGA implementation to field deployment
• Develop floating and fixed-point modeling infrastructure in MATLAB/Python/C++ to foster efficient algorithm development and implementation
• Work alongside FPGA and software engineers to implement algorithms and ensure high fidelity between model and implementation
• Work with hardware, software and test engineers to ensure rapid integration and deployment success

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of MATLAB or Python and C++ for DSP modeling purposes
• Strong understanding of modem DSP concepts, including framing/deframing, pulse shaping/matched filters, acquisition and tracking loops, spreaders/despreaders, AGC
• Ability to trade, analyze and implement channel coding components (Convolutional, Reed-Solomon, LDPC, Turbo codes)
• Strong understanding of channel impairments and ability to characterize modems for their resilience to these effects (ex. low SNR modes, doppler shift/rate, multipath, jammers)
• Ability to work with FPGA engineers for implementing algorithms in gateware

Desired Skills

• Experience developing waveforms from the ground up
• Excellent understanding of common satellite communications standards (ex. CCSDS, DVB-S2X)
• Experience developing adaptive coding and modulation systems
• Experience developing LPI/LPD waveforms for use in adverse environments
• Knowledge of SystemVerilog or VHDL
• Experience with GNU Radio
