Summary
The Data Management Manager leads a team of Data Specialists in governing and maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and consistency of the Item Master and Supplier Pricing data across our enterprise systems. This role is pivotal in supporting Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, M&A Integrations, e-Commerce, and Field Operations at TopBuild.
This individual will champion data governance practices, streamline data operations, and drive enterprise-wide data quality initiatives. This role will collaborate cross-functionally with IT and Business stakeholders. The manager ensures that data strategies are aligned with organization goals, enabling scalable growth, informed decision making, and digital transformation.
Essential Functions
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Data Specialists
- Set clear performance goals and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Enforce data governance frameworks, standards, and policies to ensure consistency, compliance, and data integrity.
- Manage end-to-end control of Item Master Data and Supplier Pricing data, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and reliability to support critical business functions and decision-making.
- Monitor and control data integrity across systems including ERP (Oracle), Sourcing Platforms, eCommerce, and reporting tools.
- Partner with IT, Data Stewards, and business unit leaders to define evolving data requirements.
- Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners, regularly communicating progress, insights, and alignment between data strategies and business goals.
- Collaborate with development teams and business process improvement leaders to enhance data literacy across the organization through targeted training initiatives.
- Support data remediation efforts by leveraging AI-driven tools for gap-filling, correcting, and fuzzy-matching data, ensuring data quality and consistency across systems.
- Lead the use of reporting tools to track data quality, usage trends, and project milestones, ensuring actionable insights are available to stakeholders.
- Provide ad-hoc data extracts and insights to support operational decisions.
Required Skills
- Data Governance Experience – Knowledge of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and compliance practices to ensure data integrity and security.
- Leadership and Team Development – Strong leadership skills with a focus on mentoring and developing team members.
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities – Strong analytical skills to identify trends, solve complex data issues, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
- Project and Change Management – Skilled in managing projects with experience leading teams through change and promoting adoption of new tools and practices.
- Relationship Building – Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, influence decision-making, and drive alignment.
- Technical Proficiency – Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate or power user), Word, PowerPoint. Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably SAP or Oracle) and data management tools; familiar user of one or more data management tools (e.g. Oracle, Collibra, Informatica, Purview) and PMIs; experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
- Communication Skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.

- Customer Focus – Displays a deep understanding of the needs of item master data users (“customers”) to meet or exceed their expectations in how item master data is deployed throughout the organization.

- 5+ years working in Oracle ERP – Item Master, Inventory, Procurement, Order Mgt
