About this role
The Head, Enterprise Risk Management designs and implements a global risk management system, supporting leaders to identify, assess and manage risks of the business within defined level of risk tolerance
Your role will consist of
Growth Strategy/Governance
Develop and implement a global risk management strategy with supporting system to identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the organization.
Work closely with executive leadership to ensure that the company's risk management processes are effective and aligned with its strategic objectives.
Provide strategic guidance on risk tolerance and risk-taking strategies.
Support functions and business unit leaders to integrate risk management practices are into their processes and programs.
Design and implement governance systems that optimize consistency and support the achievement of the company’s desired risk tolerance.
Work closely with the Internal Audit and Legal teams to align and integrate assurance activities into all company risk management and governance systems undertaken by Internal Audit and Legal teams.
Update the organization's risk management systems, processes, and practices to be compliant with relevant laws and regulations and in line with best practice and trends.
Operations Excellence
Develop and maintain a risk management system of risk identification, risk response, and related verification and reporting. Support operations and functions to use the system as designed.
Define roles and responsibilities within the risk management system, providing clarity to risk owners and other stakeholders such that the system is effectively and consistently adopted and utilized.
Facilitate effective communication of risk-related information within the organization.
Collaborate with leaders to identify, assess, and manage significant risks in accordance with the company’s formally defined risk management and governance
Safety & Sustainability
Collaborate with the Heath, Safety, and Sustainability leadership team to ensure significant health, safety, and sustainability related risks are identified, assessed, managed, and assured in accordance with the company’s formally defined risk management and governance systems

People
Support Human Resources to ensure significant people and workforce related risks are identified, assessed, managed, and assured in accordance with the company’s formally defined risk management and governance systems with the objective of managing risk to desired levels of risk tolerance.
Build and manage a high-performing risk management team, including hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability throughout the organization.
Commercial
Develop regular reports for the executive team and board of directors on the status of key risks and risk management responses.
Communicate risk-related information effectively throughout the organization to increase risk awareness.
Collaborate with the Commercial and Strategy leadership team along with corporate functions and global operations to support them in ensuring significant commercial and strategic risks are identified, assessed, managed, and assured in accordance with the company’s formally defined risk management and governance systems
Your training, skills, and experience checklist
Knowledge:
- B.S. degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
- Masters/MBA preferred.
- CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE or country equivalent (i.e., chartered accountant) designation required.
- ERM principles within mining or other extractive industry
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in designing, implementing, and managing ERM programs for large, global, publicly traded companies.
