Reporting directly to the VP Finance Co-Pilot; our next Accounting Manager will be a technically skilled accountant, ideally a CPA, who has both big company and smaller private company accounting and finance experience. The ideal candidate’s skill set will extend beyond pure accounting and reporting skills and include the proven ability to lead a planning/budgeting process and consistently provide proactive analytical decision support to the Senior Leadership Team. Simply put, we are looking for an overachieving Accounting Manager to bolster the company’s bench strength and directly contribute to the next phase of Essentia’s growth.
This is a roll-up-the-sleeves, hands-on role and responsible for managing the accounting, reporting and risk management functions. In addition to being a highly skilled accounting professional and leader, the position requires broad cross functional experience in a consumer products industry, preferably through a retail distributor network, with 3rd party manufacturing and supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
- Building trust, credibility, and respect with all internal and external business partners, and at all levels of the organization.
- Establishing and maintaining an effective level of internal controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
- Overseeing the activities of the accounting department and ensure the accurate and timely closing of the books, dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budgets.
- Acting as the NetSuite Systems Administrator; assessing, developing action plans, and implementing agreed enhancements to the system’s configuration that streamline and harmonize reporting, better leverage system capabilities across the organization, and improve the level of interfaces (EDI and portals) with our 3rd party manufacturing and supply chain partner, and customer’s systems to improve order fill rates.
- Managing the Annual Operational Plan (budget) providing clear budgetary guidelines and monthly variance reporting against Plan.
- Providing proactive analytical decision support to Senior Leadership team and department heads.
- Oversee the activities of the Disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders and core employee credit card expenses.
- Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash collections and the application of cash receipts.
- Supervising, training, mentoring, and evaluating accounting department staff.
- Participating in a wide variety of special projects and compiling a variety of special reports, as requested.
- Conforming with and abiding by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or related; Master’s degree and CPA certification preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting and managerial experience with earlier years in top-tier consumer products companies, CPG preferred
- Experience directing an overall accounting / finance function with responsibility for transactional accounting, internal and external reporting, treasury, budgeting, tax and audit activities of the organization.
- Expertise managing Capitalization (Cap) Tables, debt, loans and equity in complex private ownership legal entities.
