The School of Pharmacy is looking for a Research Assistant to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. What you need to know
Salary: Starting at $45,000.00 annually, compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
Location: This position is located onsite in Kingsville, TX.

Other Requirements and Factors
Compliance & Safety: Follow all institutional, biosafety, and animal care guidelines (e.g., IACUC, IBC, Lab specific). Participate in laboratory safety training and adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Core lab maintenance: May have to work on the weekend and/or after normal hours.
Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
Attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Research: Intensively participates in data analysis and preliminary data collection through accurately following experimental protocols (e.g., cell culture, PCR, ELISA, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, mice behavioral study). Compiles data files set from research teams. Collects, interprets, and analyzes data, compiles results, prepares reports, and presents their conclusions. Maintains mouse colony in the vivarium, performs surgery on the xenograft mice, conducts behavioral test on mice, generates preliminary data for the lung cancer project and Alzheimer’s disease projects. Participates in poster and podium presentation of the collected results.
Administrative: Under the supervision of PI, organizes the professional collaboration between the pharmacy/graduate students and the lab team member. Helps train new lab members or undergraduate students and graduate students on techniques and safety protocols. Ships laboratory agents for analysis. Works collaboratively with undergraduate students, graduate students, postdocs, and PIs. Attends and contributes to lab meetings and discussions.
