As a member of the IT Operations group, reporting to the Assistant Manager Infrastructure & Data Services, the engineer – IT Operations SQL DBA is responsible for daily Microsoft SQL database maintenance, health checking, optimization of table structures and database performance. This position will interact directly with the DBA, server, infrastructure engineering teams and application team and developers and as well with other system administrators to gather technical requirements, resolve complex technical issues and implement enterprise database solutions.
This position needs to have the ability to detect and troubleshoot database server related issues and other CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention. Coordinate internally with development, QA and support teams to resolve bugs and facilitate releases. The SQL DBA engineer needs to provide architectural and design SQL recommendations and best practices implementations for future expansion.

This position reports in the IT Engineering Manager and sits at our Radnor, PA (corporate headquarters) location.
What we’re looking for
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science preferred or equivalent work experience - required.
- Microsoft SQL certification – required.
- Oracle certification – desired.
- AWS certification - is a plus
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years technical experience in IT with a focus on enterprise level for Microsoft Data Bases systems - required.
- Strong knowledge of backups, restores, maintenance, Always on (Hight Availability feature) etc. in MS SQL – required
- Specialization in MS SQL Server Administration – required.
- Experience on various SQL server version, i.e., SQL Express, Developer, 2017,2019,2022 versions – required.
- Experience in SQL development i.e., TSQL, SPs, Views, Triggers, and other BI features within SQL Server (SSAS/SSIS/SSRS) - desired
Who you are:
- Good communication and technical documentation skills.
- Solid work practices regarding change and risk management, troubleshooting methodology - desired.
- Knowledge in planning and configuring various Disaster Recover (DR) related features within SQL Server - desired
- Good understanding and experience with server-client computing and relational database environments – desired
- Ability to write and troubleshoot MS SQL code and design (stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints) – desired.
- Experience supporting 10K+ server enterprise environments – is a plus.
- Experience running enterprise deployment projects – is a plus.
- Industry experience in pharma, life sciences, warehouse and/or manufacturing - is a plus
How you will create an impact:
- Daily Microsoft SQL database maintenance and configuration, optimization of data base structures and performance.
- Participate on the designing, implementation and automatization of systems to improve our internal processes.
- Good understanding on database lifecycle process, patching etc.
- Maintain regular backups, restorations, and other maintenance requirements.
- Implements policies and governance for SQL servers in an enterprise setting.
- Establishes and enforces standards and processes for the administration of SQL servers.
- Take part of different projects like SQL migrations / upgrades of database versions.
- Creates reports to show the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) related to the SQL server’s performance.
- Provide support to other databases like Oracle may be required.
- Knowledge in Service now for any changes related to database.
- Good communication skill to understand the user, application requirements.
- Basic knowledge in SQL License and Microsoft download center.
- Other duties as assigned.
