The College of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner, to provide comprehensive, continuous, and personalized patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations. This role will facilitate the delivery of care for inpatient and outpatient situations and perform independently or as part of a treatment team. The position will also be responsible for oversight of our multi-specialty infusion site(s).

Essential Functions

  • Clinical outpatient, inpatient services, and care coordination at West Chester Hospital.  The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will facilitate the delivery of care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations, as an independent provider in the ambulatory sites.
  • Perform appropriate history and physical for complex, acute, critical, and chronically ill patients. 
  • Order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests. 
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions. 
  • Maintain accurate medical records.  
  • Collaborate with other providers and members of the health care team in delivery of care and make appropriate referrals when needed. 
  • Educate patients and families about medical conditions and treatment plans. 
  • Facilitate staff, patient, and family decision making using evidence-based practice.
  • Participate in research and development projects. 
  • Participate in education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students, and medical students.

Additional Infusion Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments prior to infusion therapy, including reviewing lab results and current medications.
  • Monitor infusion therapies under collaborative agreement and established protocols.
  • Manage infusion-related reactions and provide emergency interventions when necessary.
  • Educate patients and families regarding infusion treatments, side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other team members to optimize infusion care.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, infection control standards, and institutional guidelines.
