As Senior Director of Risk you will identify, evaluate, mitigate and monitor the company’s enterprise risks. This role starts with enhancing  the current risk program and expanding it into deeper engagements with business lines, key stakeholders, the executive committee and the Board of Directors.

You will have a critical role of informing the executive leaders and business leaders of the nature and level of the company’s risks relative to its risk appetite to allow for risk informed business decisions , while also driving action to mitigate such risks.

The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen which will be leveraged to define and develop the risk program.  This candidate will also apply a contextual application of risk framework, policy, and mitigation strategies within a growth oriented, rapidly maturing, private, regulated fintech.

What you'll do: 

  • Lead and develop a small enterprise risk management team
  • Provide an assessment of current state of the program, set the near term roadmap to deliver against the goals of the team 
  • Guide the operations of the firm’s Risk Committee
  • Create and implement risk rubric through identification and scoring of current risks
  • Create and implement risk assessment program across the firm
  • Implement risk and change management governance protocols
  • Provide risk management guidance for new business and product launches
  • Streamline vendor and third party management process
  • Provide a strong value-add to the leadership team through risk reporting  and ad hoc updates on internal and external risks 
  • Engage and develop relationships with partners across the organization to facilitate risk reporting and support mitigation activities
  • Define additional responsibilities in line with your definition and development of the risk  program you will be leading

What we're looking for:

  • 8+ years experience in risk & program management with a history of implementing and/or maturing a small program; ideally within fintech, investment adviser and/or broker dealer experience
  • Experienced people manager
  • Strong program and project management skills, attention to detail and follow through
  • Familiarity with implementing controls associated with risk frameworks such as COSO, ISO, NIST
  • Strong reporting and communication skills
  • Familiarity with first principles thinking
  • Capacity to engage at all levels of the organization and with all aspects of Risk requirements, from risk assessment communication to leadership to policy review and individual risk mitigation approaches
  • Bonus: experience fostering a risk culture in a rapidly growing private corporation and/or managing enterprise risk in the transition from private to public company
