Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice Dean for Institutional Success, the Senior Director of Admissions leads an ambitious, creative team that is goal, and metric driven. Responsible for the daily decisions and larger strategies ensuring student recruitment and engagement strategies and supervision of the team in collaboration with Assistant Dean, Associate Dean, Vice Dean and law school leadership.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning, Implementation, and Team Supervision. Responsible for leading members of the team in developing, creating, and executing annual recruiting strategies and goals. New strategies are required each year and throughout the year to anticipate market changes and remain competitive. Strategic planning includes operational planning and efficiencies with a small team, marketing and communications, interview strategies, travel and event strategies, and more. Supervises all team members, ensuring accountability, equity, training, growth, and efficient implementation of systems, platforms and databases. Responsible for office budget.
  • Lead Interviewer. Supervises the Director of Admissions in charge of interviewing to create and implement interview strategies, processes, train, and continuously educate staff to effectively interview prospective candidates. Determines which prospective students are invited to interview. Interviews have a complicated collection of goals and evolving strategies. Prepares collection of interview questions that target the goals. Ongoing and deep knowledge of the law school and legal practice, is necessary to be an effective interviewer. Interviews for highest target candidates. Evaluate candidates based on interview results and makes final recommendations.
  • Lead Member of Admissions & Scholarship Committees. Leads the admissions committee through developed strategies and timing for who to admit, how much scholarship to award, and communications regarding admissions and scholarship awards.
  • Data and Analysis. Leads Director of Communications and Operations in identifying the reports and data needed to effectively project and develop strategies. Analyzing reports and recognizes trends, develops projections, and reacts appropriately.
  • Teach and Represent Law School. Speaks on panels at national and international forums. Develops curriculum for prospective law students, presenting and teaching frequently. Represents law school at conferences, events, programs. Collaborates with Career Center and other departments to effectively represent law school to legal employers, alumni, and other stakeholders. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • JD and three years of experience; practice experience; marketing or recruiting experience; knowledge of law and types of law, legal employers; bar admission.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision making.
  • Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents.
  • Ability to work well without close supervision.
  • Strong general written and oral communication skills.
  • Marketing and recruiting experience.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience editing and creating content.
  • Comfortable with technology and Microsoft Office suite.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Seven years of significant work experience in Admissions, College Access, or Diversity Recruitment.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record.
  • Must be able to travel (car and plane).

Salary Range

$64,700.00 - $110,500.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
