Fire Chief

Amentum is seeking a Fire Chief at Arnold AFB in Tullahoma, Tennessee.  The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Installation Fire Chief (IFC), responsible for overall management and supervision of the fire protection, fire prevention, rescue, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs. The IFC also serves as the Program Manager for the AEDC Facilities Support Services sub-contract.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Leads all aspects of administration, planning & execution of a comprehensive fire prevention, firefighting, & rescue program for Arnold AFB per Customer requirements.

• Develops goals and objectives and exercises overall responsibility for management and control of fire operations, emergency medical services (EMS), fire prevention, training, and emergency control center (ECC) programs. 

• Establishes, revises and reviews plans, policies, strategy, tactics, and procedures for fire suppression and prevention to ensure compliance with Company policies, national consensus standards, National Fire Codes, uniform building codes, Code of Federal Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Administration policies and procedures, and environmental laws and regulations as they apply to fire protection.

• Exercises sound business acumen in the management of all aspects of the contract. Establishes and maintains direct communication and coordination with the Prime Contract Manager, the Contract Officer’s Representative (COR), and the Base Civil Engineer (BCE). Manges metric & analysis systems for specific programs to assess & upwardly report performance efficiency, mission effectiveness, and compliance.

• Meets with key customers and coordinating officials to assess customer satisfaction, explain organizational policy and procedures, and resolve significant problems that arise.

• Plans for work accomplishment and establishes priorities to accomplish work set forth in the Performance Work Statement and Department/Company policies and procedures.  

• Reviews work and management technique of subordinate supervisors and is held accountable for actions taken and advice provided by same. Accepts, amends or rejects work of subordinate supervisors and ensures all programs are fully functional and operating at maximum efficiency and effectiveness.

• Evaluates the effectiveness of all Company and FES directed programs, develops and executes changes to standards of performance, operations, & equipment as necessary.

• Makes personnel-related decisions, determines personnel requirements and approves or selects candidates for supervisory and non-supervisory positions, taking into consideration skills, qualifications, mission requirements, & EEO program objectives.

• Manages employee expectations, appraises performance, provides regular feedback, and  oversees employee’s professional development per Company program guidelines. 

• Initiates action to correct conduct and performance issues of all employees and processes disciplinary actions in accordance with Company policy and procedures.

• Negotiates mutual aid agreements (MAA) with other local fire departments, revising agreements frequently and updating as required. Evaluates fire departments with which MAA to ensure their capability to provide assistance.

• Manages all aspects of financial preparation, execution, approvals, business development and resource accountability according to Company and Customer rules.

• Hears and resolves grievances and employee complaints referred by subordinate supervisors and employees.
