Job Description

Dynatrace is looking for a an experienced and practical privacy leader to join the global Legal team. You will lead a dedicated Legal privacy team working with the cross-functional Data Protection Team and business process owners to shape the Company’s data protection strategy and roadmap, and evolve our key enterprise privacy programs, initiatives and policies. In this role, you will

  • Provide day-to-day, hands-on and actionable legal guidance and solutions to business owners up to the senior management level to ensure that applicable regulatory and contractual obligations are met with respect to privacy, information security and data protection.
  • Think strategically and assist with proactive management of data privacy risk.
  • Serve as a primary source of advice to executive and functional leadership on enterprise privacy issues; adeptly consider business concerns when advising on organizational level policy and legal considerations.
  • Anticipate and advise on proposed changes to global privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations, public policy and legal and market trends that will have significant impact on the business.
  • Provide senior in-house expertise and guidance for strategic privacy-related negotiations, claims or disputes and M&A activity.
  • Define and maintain program metrics and KPIs, manage outside privacy resources and work closely with the General Counsel to manage the relevant budget.
  • Effectively manage and invest in the professional development of the privacy team members.
  • Serve on cross-functional committees and other groups that have a significant impact on the overall organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice and in good standing in Massachusetts or applicable state.
  • At least 10 years of working experience as a lawyer, with minimum 5 years in a dedicated privacy role, ideally combining experience at a law firm with an international practice with an in-house privacy role in a global technology company.

Preferred Skills

  • Expertise in global privacy laws and experience in building a practical and effective privacy program.
  • Demonstrated experience in operationalizing data privacy with a focus on simple, scalable and effective processes.
  • Ability to think strategically, provide sound business advice as well as reliable legal counsel. Excellent judgment and proven experience making risk determinations.
  • A thoughtful, articulate and effective communicator who can distill the important aspects of any legal or regulatory issue and make it actionable; seasoned presentation skills.
  • CIPP/CIPM or equivalent privacy certifications.

Travel required.

Additional Information

  • The salary range for this role is $200,000-$230,000. When determining your salary, we consider your experience, skills, education, and work location.
