Rehabilitation Technician - Outpatient

About the role

Description

(1) Relief - 16 hours per week; 8a - 4:30p Thursdays and Fridays 


SUMMARY:

Primarily performs office-based work tasks and occasionally under direct supervision of a physical therapist or an occupational therapist, performs delegated, selected, or routine patient care tasks in specific situations. These duties include preparing the resident/patient/client and the treatment area.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Record Keeping/Reception

  • Perform clerical duties such as taking inventory, ordering supplies, answering telephones, taking messages, making copies and filling out forms.
  • Complete, update and maintain necessary records.
  • Enter patient information into Point Click Care and Net Health, updates as needed. Update physician information in Net Health. 
  • Check patient insurance coverage/obtaining required insurance preauthorization.
  • Discuss insurance information and schedules for initial visits of patients. Schedules recurring visits with patients.
  • Welcome and check in clients, assuring completion of admission records, obtaining copies of insurance cards.
  • Keep record of patient’s financial obligations and takes payment at time of service.  
  • Upload records into Nethealth.
  • Maintain Health Record and audits for completion. 
  • Coordinate maintenance on SJU vehicles and Drive Training vehicles. 
  • Maintain equipment and furniture to keep it in good working condition, including performing the assembly and disassembly of equipment and accessories.
  • Clean and organize work area and disinfect equipment after treatment.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Rehab or Outpatient Lead Therapist.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Responsibilities to Residents/Patient/Clients

  • Transport residents/patients/clients to and from treatment areas, using wheelchairs or providing standing walking support.
  • Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist resident/patient/client practicing exercises and functional activities under the direction of the physical therapist or occupational therapist.
  • Confer with the supervising physical therapist or occupational therapist and others to discuss patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
  • Record treatment and equipment used.
  • Teach exercise classes as designed by therapists.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Safety

  • Obeys safety rules of St. John’s United.
  • Identifies, reports, and/or corrects obvious safety hazards.
  • Attends mandatory safety in-services/online training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION: Employee Responsibilities

  • Follows policy and procedures on annual TB testing.
  • Follows policy and procedures on annual influenza vaccinations.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Requirements: Must be a High School Graduate or possess GED and be CNA certified or willing to obtain certification within six months of employment. One to two years of CNA experience is preferred.
