Compensation Overview

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?

This is a hybrid role with responsibilities of a Sr Account Engineer and leading a small team of Account Engineers who support large national property accounts. This role leads the account engineering discipline, responsible for managing work assignments for staff, completing performance reviews, guiding staff on skill development, and acting as Risk Control technical liaison to local business partners. Design and oversee delivery of valued and high-quality Property Risk Control services to assigned large National Property accounts and clients country-wide through acquisition of new business; Loss Prevention activities throughout the policy term to achieve or maintain a profitable account, identification of past losses and potential for trends or emerging issues, and Account Retention. Manage the relationships with the National Property regional teams, including sales and marketing, underwriting, underwriting reviews, service strategies and claim partnership. Work with Property leadership to align technical and/or consulting services that support defined business strategies, assessment methodologies, and support line of business and program underwriting reviews.

What Will You Do?

  • Manage staff of Risk Control Account Engineers responsible for managing large National Property accounts.
  • Responsible for managing work asignment and skill development for Account Engineers through training, active mentoring assignments, co-surveys, and peer reviews.
  • Attract, recruit, retain and develop top property loss control talent. Work in close collaboration with peers and field leadership.
  • Join Account Engineering team on key customer service meetings and perform quality assessments on their work.
  • Build learning strategies and individual development plans for Account Engineers.
  • Manages select large National Property accounts and consults on strategies for controlling hazards to reduce or prevent losses. Influence clients to implement recommendations. Develop comprehensive plans for services to be delivered, appropriate resources to be used.
  • Maintain current knowledge of account losses, emerging issues relevant to the account, operational changes and the property hazards and protection issues associated with them for assigned accounts.
  • Provide technical advice and account information to National Property Underwriters for risk assessment and analysis.
  • Promote our value proposition with the staff in support of new business acquisition. Assure accurate and effective account differentiation, as well as service delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Insurance and Risk Control knowledge; strong understanding of PC lines of coverage and Commercial Lines products and the related Risk Control disciplines.
  • Prior role that included technical training or mentoring within the property discipline.
  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist, NFPA Committee Member, Professional Engineering License or similar earned designation.
  • Demonstrates expert property knowledge and can apply the competency in the most complex situations.
  • Effective presentation and training skills for all audiences.
  • Superior interpersonal skills demonstrated in a variety of settings such as communicating complex topics, influencing and negotiating.

What is a Must Have?

  • Six years of experience in fire science or a technical science, an engineering discipline, or the property fire protection field.
