Senior Oracle Database Engineer

What does a successful Senior Oracle Database Engineer do at Fiserv? 

You will be responsible for the implementation of new technologies and support operations on numerous Oracle databases, while working closely with internal clients, systems programmers, and application developers, to define and resolve information flow and content issues and transform business requirements into environment-specific databases. You will perform database engineering on prem datacenters and Oracle Cloud (ExaCC / ExaCS), and Azure showcasing your Ansible and scripting capabilities.

What you will do: 

• Demonstrate your advanced skills in Oracle utilities AWR, ASH, ADDM, and OSWatcher by using your knowledge of OEM management and administration 
• Lead problem diagnosis, shell scripting, performance monitoring and tuning, and database backup and recovery 
• Configure, administer, and implement complex database infrastructures, multiple replication technologies, multi-directional flows, and other high-availability architectural topologies 
• Develop and manage automation scripts using Ansible, Terraform, and Rundeck
• Monitor and analyze performance metrics and allocate database resources to achieve optimum database performance 
• Support multiple servers and databases of medium-to-high complexity, as defined by database size, technology, transaction velocity and volume, system feeds and interfaces, with multiple concurrent users, to ensure control, integrity, and accessibility of the data 
• Perform fail-over testing and demonstrate expert-level knowledge of networks, storage, encryption, security, cloud, and backup and recovery technologies 
• Manage the implementation of database patches, upgrades, and migrations while troubleshooting and remediating performance and capacity issues 

What you will need to have: 

• 6+ years of related IT experience 
• 6+ years of experience with the following: Oracle 11g, 12c, 18c and 19c, ASM, Grid Infrastructure and RAC on Exadata (CC/CS), Linux, AIX, Solaris, Unix operating systems 
• 5+ years of experience with cloud technologies and backup and restore techniques for medium-to-large databases 
• 5+ years of experience with Exadata (CC/CS) and Golden Gate replication (multi-directional) and conflict detection and resolution (CDR)  
• 5+ years of experience with scripting and automation using shell scripting, Ansible, Terraform and Python
• Experience troubleshooting problems related to the Oracle database that may originate or exist in infrastructure that supports the data store, including application server, network, storage, or operating system component and layer 
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience
