Job Description
AECOM’s West Region is actively seeking a highly motivated Geotechnical Project Engineer to join the Orange, California Geo-Civil team. In this role you will have the opportunity to work on very challenging projects including Dams, Levees, Pipelines, Bridges, Tunnels, Building Structures, and other Facilities, and collaborate with a wide range of other disciplines.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes and advancing CPTs at various sites throughout Southern California
- Review and assign laboratory testing for geotechnical samples
- Oversee inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards
- Perform and oversee geotechnical analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention, liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations
- Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations
- Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work
- Prepare and/or peer review designs, specifications, and construction documents
- Assemble and document geotechnical data using software that includes: Excel, Word, gINT, AutoCAD
- Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus four (4) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Candidate must have a valid driver's license
- Professional engineering license or ability to gain one within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in Civil Engineering
- 10 years or more of experience
- Geotechnical California GE registration is a plus
- Working knowledge of relevant California seismic code provisions
- Strong commitment to ensuring safe project execution
- Local travel may be required
- Experience working with local permitting jurisdictions
- OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification
