Operations Planner
Reports to: SIOP Manager
Role Summary
The Operations Planner plays a key role in ensuring material and planning readiness to support New Part Production programs within an aviation MRO environment. This role is responsible for aligning demand, capacity, and material availability to enable reliable execution, cost control, and on-time delivery (TAT, OTD).
Working closely with Procurement, Engineering, Repair, Logistics, Operations, and Customer Solutions, the Operations Planner translates demand and maintenance schedules into executable plans, identifies risks, and actively supports operational throughput and customer commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Execution
- Own the weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) and material planning process for assigned engine platforms/product families.
- Translate demand forecasts and maintenance schedules into executable operational and material plans.
- Monitor planning adherence, material availability, lead times, and execution risks.
- Proactively identify bottlenecks and deviations impacting engine throughput and delivery performance.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as a key planning interface between Operations, Procurement, Engineering, Logistics, and Customer Solutions.
- Align planning priorities with customer demand, sales commitments, and operational capacity
- Support Team Leads with shop-floor planning and short-term execution decisions.
- Facilitate timely escalation and resolution of planning and material issues.
Supplier, Inventory & Logistics Alignment
- Partner with Procurement and Operations leadership on OEM, third-party, and consigned materials in line with forecasts and contractual obligations.
- Support inventory control, logistics planning, and transportation coordination to minimize delays.
- Collaborate with Warehouse teams to ensure efficient material flow and inventory accuracy.
- Monitor supplier performance and material risks to support informed decision-making.
Data, Systems & Governance
- Maintain accurate and reliable planning data within ERP systems.
- Ensure integrity of material master data, BOMs, and planning parameters.
- Provide data-driven insights, scenarios, and recommendations to support operational and management decisions.
Continuous Improvement & Risk Management
- Identify structural gaps, constraints, and improvement opportunities within planning and supply chain processes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and longer-term planning strategies.
- Support risk mitigation and recovery planning for material shortages, supplier constraints, or schedule disruptions.
- Support Operational Excellence initiatives, including value stream design and daily management.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in operations planning, material planning, or inventory management within aviation or a similar complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of OEM, third-party, and consigned inventory practices.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and planning tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
