Processing Tech Lead, Heat Treat

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Processing Technician Lead, Heat Treat in our Carson, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.  We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Responsibilities:

Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision performs a variety of engineering assignments in developing and implementing production processing methods and controls to meet quality and safety standards in the most cost-efficient manner. This position reports directly to Operation Manager.

• Knowledge of general heat treat requirements for solution treat & age of titanium and aluminum.
• Proficient in verifying paperwork (routers, logs, furnace charts, specifications, furnace calibration status, etc.)
• Knowledge of company policies, applicable procedures, specifications, and work instructions
• Proficient in cleaning processes
• Knowledge of all heat treat equipment operation
• Understands purpose of and how to perform shear testing.
• Ability to perform daily PM for heat treat equipment.

Skills/Knowledge:

• 6 - 10 years’ experience in heat treat operations 
• Ability to read and interpret product prints
• Ability to use inspection gages and instruments
• Prior leadership or lead technician experience
• High school diploma or GED

Physical Demand

• Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time 

Special Qualifications: 

•  Knowledge of material science and stress/strain analysis desirable
• Participated and/or knowledgeable to NADCAP Audits
