Description
The Social Sciences Collegiate Division at the University of Chicago is now accepting applications for part-time Lecturers who will teach up to four courses in the History of European Civilization sequence during the 2025-26 academic year. History of European Civilization is a two-quarter sequence in the undergraduate Civilization Studies program. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching seminar-style courses, holding regularly scheduled office hours, preparing and grading assignments, and attending staff meetings.

Qualifications
The position requires a Ph.D. in a social sciences or humanities area relevant to European history, with the requirement that the successful candidate have done general examination preparation or the equivalent in at least one field that focuses on material prior to 1750. The position is open to applicants who will have completed all requirements for their Ph.D. no later than August 31, 2025. Experience teaching relevant coursework at the college level is required.
