Purpose

The Systems Administrator II will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our systems and network infrastructure. Will manage servers, storage systems, and other critical technology, while the primary point of contact for troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across the organization. Will bring a mix of hands-on experience, high-value asset management, scripting/automation skills, and an understanding of compliance and common audit requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Systems Administration and Maintenance: Manage and maintain the Center for Energy and Environmental Resources (CEER's) servers, desktops, and network infrastructure across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments Perform system patching, SSL certificate renewals, OS-level updates, and backup verification routines Administer virtualized environments and storage systems in support of CEER's research and business operations Oversee configuration, security, and maintenance of departmental servers, ensuring performance and uptime

  • User and Project Support: Automation & Workflow Optimization Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) to streamline IT processes Use native OS tools (e.g., Automator/Shortcuts on macOS) to enhance admin workflows and task efficiency Generate automa
