We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to expand the scope and reliability of our user management, billing, authentication, and all user-related functionality. As our business grows, the complexity of our user management increases as well. Messari maintains a long list of API endpoints, backed by the user service for permissioning, API keys, authentication, rate limiting, etc. Ensuring that our user services are tested, robust, and have high visibility is a critical aspect of the role.
In addition to the user service, we are looking for an engineer to help extend and contribute to our real-time events notification system. Messari plans to extend the delivery mechanisms beyond email to eventually support slack, telegram, discord, and many more. The notification is becoming a foundational piece to the backend system that enables all products to allow users to subscribe and receive notification alerts.
The engineer should also be able to design and implement new features as well as monitoring and alerting solutions that provide high visibility into the system functionality. This will involve working with both product managers infrastructure engineers to develop solutions.
The right person for this role should be meticulously detail-oriented, enjoy putting things in order, and comfortable with a high degree of ownership over a critical and foundational piece of the Messari stack. They should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to prioritize tasks based on business requirements. They should be an effective communicator and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet the needs of our users.
What you'll do:- Collaborate with product management and other teams to understand the business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Design, develop, and maintain our user management, user configuration, billing, and authentication functionality.
- Develop and maintain documentation for user-related functionality, including user guides, API documentation, and internal developer documentation.
- Refactor and repurpose legacy real-time event systems to be compatable with the new customer notification system.
- Extend delivery mechanisms of the notification system to be capable of reaching users across new platforms.
- Optimize the performance and scalability of our backend system to meet the needs of our growing user base and subscriptions.
Who you are:
- 5+ years experience with modern backend technologies including Golang, Postgres, and AWS (languages are preferred, not required)
- Experience maintaining a mission-critical production services
- Interested in information management, communication, and technical writing
- A desire to work on big complex projects with lots of ownership
- A passion for shipping high-quality products
- Empathetic and love to help your teammates grow
Projects you could work on:
- Slack Integration! Extend the notification system to be able to deliver customer notifications to Slack workspaces in both immediate and digest (e.g. weekly) cadences.
- API Key Management! Expand the capabilities of our API system to include API keys for not only users, but teams and projects.
