What You'll Be Doing

Position Summary

The Radiologic Technologist – Operating Room (C-Arm Specialist) is primarily responsible for providing intraoperative imaging support using mobile C-arm fluoroscopy units to assist surgeons and clinical teams during surgical procedures. This position is dedicated to the operating room; however, the technologist may be reassigned to the main Radiology Department during periods of low surgical volume to support general imaging operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operating Room Imaging Support

· Perform intraoperative imaging procedures using C-arm fluoroscopy equipment in a sterile surgical environment.

· Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical staff to ensure optimal image acquisition and procedural flow.

· Maintain strict sterile technique when operating in the surgical field.

· Adjust imaging parameters to produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.

· Assist in positioning patients and equipment to ensure accurate imaging and procedural efficiency.

· Anticipate surgeon needs and respond promptly to intraoperative imaging requests.

· Document procedures, including fluoroscopy time and radiation dose, in compliance with regulatory requirements.

· Participation in an Operating Room on-call rotation is required, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support emergent and after-hours surgical cases.

 

Radiation Safety & Compliance

· Follow all radiation safety standards and ALARA principles.

· Utilize appropriate shielding for patients and staff.

· Monitor radiation exposure levels during procedures.

Equipment Maintenance

· Perform routine equipment checks to ensure C-arm readiness.

· Report and coordinate repair of malfunctioning equipment.

· Maintain cleanliness and proper storage of imaging equipment.

Support to Main Radiology Department

· Provide diagnostic imaging services in the Radiology Department during low OR volume.

· Assist with workflow, patient care, and general radiographic procedures.

· Maintain competency across required imaging services.

What We're Looking For

Education: Technical School

 

Experience: AART designation necessary, related experience preferred

 

Skills: Ability to use problem solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills. Ability to perform diversified duties with in high degree of accuracy.
