In this position...
- An AECD Compliance Specialist will interface with subject matter experts within the company to lead in the development of records characterizing vehicle emissions control functionality and in implementing related regulatory requirements and processes.
- They will ensure on-time delivery of required information to the regulatory agencies across multiple markets and coordinate responses to agency questions as necessary to support vehicle emissions certification approvals.
- This position requires a foundational understanding of engine operation and aftertreatment thermochemistry affecting emissions formation and control along with the ability to communicate on complex vehicle system control processes. Candidates should be self-motivated with established problem-solving skills and possess a high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams utilizing strong written and oral communication skills.
What you'll do...
- Engage with appropriate authorities (Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) / California Air Resource Board (CARB) / Type Approval Authorities) to satisfy Auxiliary Emissions Control Device regulations and related emissions certification compliance requirements.
- Facilitate responses to agency inquiries related to emission control strategies or certification processes.
- Engage in internal reviews of new or modified emissions control hardware and strategy implementation including documentation characterizing performance functionality and limitations.
- Identify and implement process improvements for documentation workstreams.
- Act as a technical resource to provide compliance training and on-going guidance on regulatory requirements for product and software engineering teams.
- Lead efforts in documenting Failure Mode Default Actions related to emissions.
- Engage cross-functional teams on implementation of emission control tracking requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support for Homologation reporting required for export markets.
- Participate in key workgroups (internal and external) related to implementation of new regulatory requirements.
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or related Engineering Degree
- Effective negotiation and collaboration skills
- Personal initiative and curiosity, with a desire to learn
- This is a Transitional Work Arrangement (TWA) position (prefer 80% work schedule).
- Ability to interact and establish constructive working relationships with government agency employees
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, data analysis, coding, etc.)

- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to effectively multi-task and manage multiple competing priorities
- Experience with powertrain engineering related to emissions control software and calibration is desired
- Experience with engine or vehicle emissions testing is desired
- Experience in homologation/certification and associated testing is desired
