Duties and Responsibilities: This position is based in Yulee, FL and performs travel in relation to the duties below and for professional development. This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. This position, an employee of the Nassau County Health Department (NCHD), works to protect, promote, and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. The position requires licensure as a Nutritionist/Dietitian in the State of Florida. This position serves under the direct supervision of the Senior Public Health Services Manager.
Supervisory: Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction to the WIC personnel. Supervises the work of employees assigned to the Nassau-Baker County WIC Program to ensure efficiency of time and resources are met. Establish the performance standards according to DOH policy for WIC personnel. Meet with the staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and discipline action, if needed. Ensures accurate and timely daily submission of EARS, leave and attendance (People First), acknowledge Everbridge drills, and travel logs to the WIC Administrative Office as such the employee will be operating a state vehicle to service clients at multiple sites. Ensure all assigned staff complete all mandatory trainings and are offered additional training that properly supports team members in their daily duties, growth and development, rewards and recognition. Ensures staff have and maintain a current license to practice in Florida when applicable.
Planning: Plan, develop, conduct, promote, implement and evaluate the WIC program in accordance with State WIC program and DOH administrative rules. Ensure program report deadlines and other deliverables are met, delegating tasks to other staff in chain of command as appropriate.
Data Management: Review WIC Program data that have required standards to identify areas not being met and develop and implement a plan to meet the standard. Gathers, records, and reports statistical data relating to health concerns and services. Use input from staff, community assessments, community partners to identify any areas needed of change and/or improvement of the services provided. Responsible to act as the Information Technology (IT) Program Support including serves as FL WISE Super User to ensure data integrity, trouble shooting and Help Desk support to WIC system users and clients. Completes monthly reports to the State WIC Office including the monthly budget reports, Nutrition Education Reports, and Vendor Compliance Reports. Complete Monthly and Quarterly FDOH reports.
Budgeting: Ensures the programmatic budget is spent accurately and efficiently. Ensures fiscal responsibility of the WIC Program grant funds, including maintaining budget revenues and expenses and purchasing according to FDOH policy. Meet with supervisors and budget manager during the fiscal year to keep them informed of any increased expenditures. Responsible for preparation and approval for purchasing for assigned areas of management.
Quality Assurance: Review assigned program activities, problems, and functions with the Supervisor to evaluate and revise work standards as needed. Implement changes to ensure that standards, policies, and procedures are current. Stay abreast of current WIC program standards an
