Job Description Summary:

Draper, an engineering research and development institution, is seeking an Director 1 in Cambridge, MA to lead the Deployed Systems & Software Program Area for the Strategic Guidance Development Business Area. This position will be leading and managing a portfolio of large scale, complex, and cross functional projects associated with the design, development and support of the Mark 6 Mod 1 Guidance System supporting the US Navy’s Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile program. This role will be responsible for ensuring the performance and reliability of the deployed systems while also managing insertion of new capabilities to ensure the credibility of the deployed strategic deterrent. This position will also be responsible for the development and oversite of mission critical software for specialized DoD systems. Specific responsibilities for the Deployed Systems and Software Director 1 include:
• Manages the operations and logistics of operational systems including interface with customers and end users
• Responsible for the development and deployment of new capabilities to ensure the credibility of deployed systems
• Responsible for development of common software architecture, infrastructure and tools for mission critical applications with stringent cyber and nuclear safety certification requirements
• Development and application of software development pipeline utilizing state-of-the art development & integration tools and methods
• Manages to budget and schedule while developing and implement work plans for portfolio execution.
• Reports results and issues to senior management and cross functional organizations.

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Supervises a team of program managers in the execution of the assigned portfolio to include mentorship and career development.
• Oversees the development of complex proposals of large scope and oversees the execution of all assigned programs.
• Develops a portfolio strategy to include development of the opportunity identification, competitive analysis, alignment of Draper’s capabilities, and engagement plans.
• Contributes to Draper Intellectual Property position or discriminating technology portfolio that transcends project contributions in one or more areas of technical discipline.
• Implements program management policies to ensure effective proposal development and project execution.
• Manages to budget and schedule while developing and implement work plans for portfolio execution.
• Reports results and issues to senior management and cross functional organizations.
• Efforts contribute to the success of a major business area.

Education:
Master’s degree or above in a relevant technical field of study, or MBA. Technical knowledge and skills gained through professional work experience.

Experience:
10+ years functional or program management experience. including 5 years experience in personnel management.

Additional Job Description:
