About SIPS: The CALS School of Integrative of Plant Science (SIPS) encompasses five fields: Horticulture, Plant Biology, Plant Breeding & Genetics, Plant Pathology and Plant-Microbe Biology, and Soil and Crop Sciences. Combined there are 100+ faculty, ~200 undergraduate majors, 200+ graduate students in six fields, and 600+ other employees located in Ithaca, Geneva, and other satellite locations across New York State. The School offers the multidisciplinary undergraduate major in the Plant Sciences and is also home to the Agricultural Sciences major. School faculty also contribute to the Biology, Global Development, and Viticulture & Enology majors.

We are seeking two Temporary Technicians to support ongoing postharvest research projects in the Cornell Postharvest Laboratory. The successful candidate will conduct research activities to meet project objectives and fulfill laboratory obligations. This position is full-time (39 hours per week) for four months from June to October, and the pay rate is $20.00 per hour.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for experiments, including tasks such as labeling crates and trees.

• Harvest fruit and assess fruit maturity and quality using a variety of instruments and tools.

• Enter data accurately and manage data records.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Biology, Biochemistry, or related fields.

• Must have and maintain a valid New York State driver’s license.

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

• Flexibility to adapt to varying work schedules and tasks.

• Strong ability to work effectively within a diverse environment at Cornell.
