Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Robotics or a closely related field in hand by 8/31/26.

Preferred Qualifications:
Strong background in algorithms, human-computer interaction (HCI), and software engineering. Experience in robotics systems, interactive or intelligent systems, or AI-driven applications. Demonstrated expertise in designing, implementing, and evaluating complex software systems. Strong programming skills in relevant languages (e.g., Python, C++, Java) and experience with modern software development practices. Prior experience with user-centered design, accessibility, or human-in-the-loop systems is a plus.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will work with the Principal Investigator, Dr. IV Ramakrishnan, in the Department of Computer Science at Stony Brook University on research at the intersection of robotics, intelligent systems, and human-computer interaction. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in algorithms, HCI, and software engineering, and will contribute to the design, development, and evaluation of interactive and intelligent robotic systems.

The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to conduct high-quality research, develop robust software systems and prototypes, and contribute to publications in top-tier venues. The candidate will also collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and may contribute to projects involving user-centered system design and evaluation.

The duties of the postdoctoral researcher will include conducting research, publishing papers, advising students, traveling to conferences, and participating in grant writing. They will be encouraged to develop an independent research agenda and collaborate with the broader robotics and HCI research communities.

Duties include:

      Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research and develop algorithms, systems, and prototypes in Computer Science, Robotics, and HCI.

      Collect and analyze data, including literature review, system evaluation, and user-centered studies.

      Prepare manuscripts and develop research proposals independently, including grant writing.

      Maintain software, systems, and lab infrastructure.

      Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
