SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting with and performing general accounting and month-end financial close functions for the company’s acquired firms, including preparing various journal entries, reviewing general ledger accounts, reconciling bank statements, and balancing accounts on the balance sheet. As well as supporting and backing up other accounting team members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:

• Perform monthly financial close tasks for about 30 acquired firms, including:
◦ Maintain and track month-end financial close tasks
◦ Prepare various journal entries
◦ Review the income statement for accuracy
◦ Analyze general ledger accounts and prepare balance sheet account reconciliations
• Work with other teams or firms on attaining clarification and/or resolution on matters that may arise
• Prepare and maintain desktop procedures for major responsibilities and tasks
• Support the annual financial audit. Perform other administrative duties as needed
• Participate in special projects
• Support and back up accounting department personnel, as necessary
• Commitment to a culture of professionalism, accountability, customer/client focus, and teamwork

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND/OR ABILITIES: To perform this job successfully, the individual should have the following skills and abilities:

• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Be able to learn/understand various new accounting standards and reporting systems
• Must have excellent communication, organization, and analysis skills
• Be able to manage projects efficiently and effectively, as well as meet set deadlines
• Knowledge of the NetSuite Accounting System is a plus, but is not required
• Ability to work overtime if needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting required
• Minimum of 2-4 years general accounting work experience required, with experience in a high-paced environment
