Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position spends the majority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets. Plans workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives, and time utilization with employees. Ensuring staff follows policies, procedures stated forth by state and local program. Trains employees to perform effective and efficient job.  Makes sure staff completes all required program training and are offered additional training.

 

Evaluates employees through establishing evaluation criteria and responsibilities for the WIC Program. Completes quarterly quality assurance record reviews on direct reports using the approved monitoring tool.  Meeting regularly with direct reports to ensure the established criteria of the WIC Program and performance expectations are met.

 

Directs and assists interviewing clerks and Health Support Specialists to determine income eligibility and issue WIC Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards/benefits and Identification (ID)/Verification of Certification (VOC) cards.  Responsible for data entry and retrieval using the FL-WiSE computer system. Instruct client on benefit redemption procedures.  Completes all records and documents necessary for processing each client, evaluates data relating to participant involvement and assures all medical and anthropometric data is current with required signatures.

 

Follows established protocol to provide nutrition education newsletter to clients. Document nutrition education contacts in the FL-WiSE system. Explains right and obligations of program participation to program participants. Assist with clients arriving for WIC services, answers the telephone, and schedules appointments.

 

Participates in in-service and staff development programs related to job performance.  Attends staff meetings and other related in-services to keep current on pertinent rules, regulations, and procedures. Performs other related duties as required by the supervisor.

Coordinates voter registration training, overseeing on-going registration activities and maintains a good working relationship with the Supervisor of Elections. Ensures that WIC staff receives the WIC required Voter Registration training and Civil Rights training.

 

Interviewing applicants to determine initial and ongoing eligibility for the WIC Program based on categorical and financial requirements for program participation.  Responsible for data entry and retrieval using the FLWiSE computer system.  Completes all records and documents necessary for processing each client, evaluates data relating to participant involvement and assures all medical and anthropometric data is current with required signatures.

 

Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.  May be required to use personal vehicle for transportation to assignments and for supervision at outlying sites and mobile locations. 

 

During an emergency the incumbent is responsible for monitoring and assisting the evacuation of employees and clients in assigned areas listed in the Emergency Code Procedure Manual Evacuation Procedure Standard Operating Procedure.  This includes directing co-workers and customers, checking rooms, and assuring doors are closed as they exit.  Also, during a Code Adam incumbent is responsible for reporting to assigned exit door listed in the Code Adam code to detain any adult with a child until an all clear is announced as outlined in the Code Adam code.
