A Brief Overview
This role participates in planned research projects by performing research protocols with minimal direction and guidance from the principal investigator, program director or senior scientists. May exercise moderate discretion and judgement in the execution and interpretation of experiments, and of data derived.

A Research Technician III position is available jointly in the laboratories of Dr. Robert (Brad) Lindell and Dr. Sarah Henrickson at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

This role is designed for a highly motivated technician interested in human immunobiology at the intersection of critical illness and genetic immune dysregulation, with protected effort and mentorship spanning two complementary but distinct research programs.

Scientific Environment and Focus

Lindell Lab (Sepsis Immunobiology): Dr. Lindell is a pediatric intensivist-scientist studying immune dysregulation, immune recovery, and immunometabolic dysfunction in pediatric sepsis and sepsis-associated multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). The lab applies high-dimensional immune profiling and systems immunology to samples from prospectively enrolled critically ill children, with the goal of defining targetable immune endotypes and informing precision immunomodulatory strategies.

Henrickson Lab (Inborn Errors of Immunity): Dr. Henrickson’s laboratory focuses on inborn errors of immunity (IEIs) and primary immune regulatory disorders, particularly diseases involving JAK/STAT pathway dysregulation. This work integrates patient-derived samples, advanced cellular immunophenotyping, functional assays, and multi-omic approaches to understand shared mechanisms of immune dysfunction across rare genetic disorders.

Together, these programs create a unique training environment bridging acquired immune dysfunction in critical illness and genetically mediated immune dysregulation, with strong conceptual and technical overlap.
