Job Summary

The Tech Business Analyst Principal (Portfolio Analyst) is a senior strategic role responsible for analyzing, planning, and managing technology investments across multiple business portfolios. Operating within Waterfall and Agile delivery frameworks, this role partners with Technology leadership, Finance, HR, Corporate Applications, and Customer Technology stakeholders to ensure initiatives are aligned with strategic objectives, appropriately funded, and positioned for successful execution.





This role is not project-centric—it is focused on portfolio oversight, demand intake, financial governance, prioritization, and cross-functional alignment across a diverse set of enterprise applications and business domains. The Analyst provides advanced analysis, facilitates strategic planning discussions, and leads portfolio management activities that drive value, transparency, and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

About the Portfolios

This role supports a broad set of applications and strategic initiatives across several portfolios, including:

  • Customer Technologies

  • Finance & Corporate Accounting

  • Human Resources

  • Miscellaneous Corporate Applications

  • Perform portfolio demand management activities, including intake, assessment, scoping, and prioritization.

  • Partner with PMO, Finance, Corporate Planning & Budgeting, and Accounting to ensure accurate funding and accounting compliance.

  • Create, track, and validate financial artifacts including work orders, purchase requests, purchase orders, and invoices.

  • Analyze and document the financial landscape across portfolios, providing visibility into spending and investment performance.

  • Collaborate with leadership and project managers to prepare business cases and portfolio proposals.

  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions on dependencies, risks, capacity, and prioritization.

  • Apply advanced business analysis techniques to assess and improve business processes and workflows.

  • Ensure portfolio roadmaps align with enterprise standards and strategic goals.

  • Mentor other analysts and support continuous improvement of portfolio processes.

  • Provide insights on investment performance, optimization strategies, and risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Portfolio & Financial Expertise:

  • Experience with accounting or finance rules, cost structures, and funding models.

  • Understanding of capital/expense classification and financial reporting.

  • Familiarity with portfolio management frameworks and methodologies.

Business & Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to document business processes and workflows.

  • Comfort with data analysis and basic querying (SQL or equivalent).

  • Understanding of enterprise applications and system integrations.

Professional Skills:

  • Highly organized with excellent prioritization skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.

  • Customer-focused, results-driven, and accountable.

Nice-to-Have Certifications or Experience:

  • Project Management or Business Analysis training

  • Experience with BA methodologies

  • Financial systems experience

  • Experience with ServiceNow, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio

  • Experience with Power BI

Other Requirements:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems,  business or related field of study; Or Associate's degree in computer science or related field of study with 2 years of relevant work experience; Or High school diploma/GED with 4 years of relevant work experience.

Work Experience requirement listed below:

  • In addition to any experience required above, 7 years of relevant work experience is required.
