About you and this role:
Our Logistics Purchasing Organization has an exciting opportunity for a Sourcing Specialist role, within the Marine Team, located in Midland.

In this role, you will be responsible to source & manage several logistics modes for the NAA region, to improve Dow's cost position and supply security in the market through application of the strategic sourcing process.  The modes in scope are: Drayage, Air Freight as well as a support for other ITO (International Trade Operations) modes: MPC (marine packed cargo), LCL (Less than Container Loads) & small parcels. This, in alignment with the businesses & Dow Logistics strategies.


Responsibilities, projects, and activities:

  • Manage assigned contracts portfolio with primary focus on purchasing logistic services related to transport of Dow goods.  
  • Develop knowledge of the supply market and suppliers. Conduct Strategic Sourcing Projects including market analysis and the development of short and mid-term strategies. 
  • Work with functional and business partners to understand business requirements and align sourcing strategy and implementation plans.  
  • Negotiate pricing, payment and delivery terms on spot orders as well as period contracts and execute the agreements. 
  • Manage Supplier Relationships including the commercial relationship. Monitor supplier performance against key performance indicators. 
  • Implement ESG & Digital strategies for the responsible modes.
  • Understand and practice appropriate work process governance and compliance.
  • Lead projects or project steps on a needed basis (Continuous Improvement).

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred skills:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
  • A degree discipline in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Procurement.
  • Strong digital competencies.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, ability to work with large amounts of data. 
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation or influencing the decision-making process. 
  • Demonstrated skills in project management. 
  • Proven ability to solve problems and think strategically. 
  • Ability to work across regions and functions.

Additional notes:

  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.
  • This role is primarily onsite but will align to the Design Your Day flexible workplace strategy to allow flexibility to work both onsite and remotely based on project work and role needs.
