Defense Strategy and Plans Expert, Senior

Key Role:

Work as a detail-oriented self-starter in a fast-paced environment without considerable direction and take the initiative to develop, recommend, and implement innovative solutions to complex problems. Provide on-site strategy and plans support to a four-star headquarters as a defense mission expert responsible for analyzing, coordinating, and implementing Department of Defense and Combatant Command strategies, plans, and processes. Develop client-ready deliverables for General Officers on key strategic topics, including briefs, information papers, talking points, scene setters, memorandums, and strategic documents. Conduct outreach with other organizations to develop coordinated positions, talking points, and products. Provide subject matter expertise and recommended command positions for key national security topics in the Indo-Pacific AOR. Analyze, recommend changes to, or create command strategy, plans, and guidance documents to support USINDOPACOM and DoD objectives and priorities. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience at a DoD Service-level headquarters, Component, CCMD, Joint Staff, or Interagency level

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, planning, or policy

  • Experience in national defense planning systems, processes, and documents

  • Experience in leading groups using the Joint Planning Process

  • Experience with national security challenges in the Indo-Pacific theater

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Bachelor's degree 

Additional Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience with Indo-Pacific Studies or the regional plans problem set

  • Experience with writing and coordinating executive-level products for General or Flag Officers

  • Experience with working individually and as part of a team to develop collaborative solutions to shared problems

  • Experience with facilitating working groups and meetings with vast organizations

  • Knowledge of project management processes, ensuring on-time delivery of complex deliverables, including plans of action and milestones (POA&M)

  • Ability to work independently and produce client-ready written products with little or no direction in a fast-paced environment

  • Possession of excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Master's degree in International Relations, Foreign Policy, Security Studies, Political Science, or Indo-Pacific Affairs

  • Graduate of the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), School of Advanced Warfighting (SAW), School of Advanced Air and Space Studies (SAASS), Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS), Basic Strategic Art Program (BSAP), or Advanced Strategic Art Program (ASAP)

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $86,800.00 to $198,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
