Job Purpose and Impact

Cargill is seeking a dynamic leader to direct and develop a world class regulatory team that focuses on proactively monitoring and influencing emerging regulations and partnering with business stakeholders to enable growth and ensure compliance for our food products. A successful candidate will be an experienced professional who will proactively assess the risk and opportunities related to regulations, influence emerging regulatory changes and effect pertinent changes within the North America food business units. In this role, you will lead an experienced team who partners effectively with internal stakeholders and external customers, trade associations, and regulatory agencies.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure business activities comply with food regulations and laws, working with regulatory agencies to provide guidance and advice.
  • Develop plans to deliver results in a fast-changing business and regulatory environment.
  • Lead and develop a team of experienced professionals, coaching and making decisions related to talent management.
  • Develop and coordinate regulatory positions and advocacy that aligns with business strategy.
  • Provide strategic regulatory planning, leadership and support.
  • Oversee and advise the results of toxicology and safety assessments.
  • Provide insights and advice to the business on risks and new product opportunities as a result of changes in the regulatory environment.
  • Proactively create processes and procedures that ensure compliance of our food products, including enhancements to current procedures.
  • Develop budgets, schedules, and performance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad knowledge of operations and relevant business areas
  • Experience working with government agencies (CFIA, FDA, EPA, etc.)
  • Experience working with trade organizations (IFAC, CBA, NCA, etc.)

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or law degree
  • Broad knowledge in food regulatory affairs
  • Four or more years of supervisory experience
  • Six or more years of food regulatory experience
