POSITION SUMMARY:

The incumbent in this position is responsible for mentoring and supervising members of the Intelligence Watch & Warning, and managing the daily activities of all positions assigned to this unit. The incumbent will work closely with the Special Agent Supervisor (SAS) using established policies to prepare analytical reports, projects, and assessments. Responsible for supervision of staff and incumbent spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating members while planning and directing their work. This position has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. Refer to agency policy as these types of personnel actions will require final approval from Command Staff up to Senior Executive level in your Chain of Command.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Serving as the supervisor in the Intelligence Watch & Warning;
  • Assigning projects and manage workload of the Intelligence Watch & Warning;
  • Reviewing work products produced in the Intelligence Watch & Warning;
  • Training current and new members on all aspects in the Intelligence Watch & Warning;
  • Providing assistance to ongoing projects in the Intelligence Watch & Warning using the application of extensive research and interpretive skills and techniques, and the use of numerous investigative, intelligence and informational sources/databases nationwide;
  • Following FDLE’s policies and procedures relating to the dissemination of criminal intelligence, including that portion of the policy relating to the Third Agency Rule;
  • Following FDLE policy and State and Federal Law regarding the dissemination of criminal history information;
  • Operating all computer equipment and uses other resources to obtain and interpret the requested information when available.  This is done in all systems and formats in which training has been provided; and
  • Performing other related duties willingly and in a manner consistent with the standards described above where appropriate, or as requested.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Nine years of analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
  2. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university substitute for four years of experience.
  3. A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  4. Any combination of education or experience, as described above, for a total of nine years.
  5. Vocational/technical training in the area of law enforcement, or college coursework from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 720 classroom hours per year for education.
  6. Completion of the FDLE Law Enforcement Analyst Academy (FLEAA) within two years of hire date.
