Team: The S&P Global Commercial Team is responsible for optimizing relationships and commercial outcomes for over 2,000 of the largest companies in the U.S & Canada. The Role: The Associate - Private Markets is responsible for supporting the Private Markets team in the maintenance of existing client relationships, origination of new sales opportunities, and coordination of internal commercial initiatives in North America. This individual will work in close collaboration with all members of the Private Markets commercial team in the course of their day-to-day activities and will support the overall achievement of the regional revenue targets.

 

Responsibilities:

 

·         Strategic analysis and segmentation of regional markets, trends and industry developments to identify new rating and sustainable finance opportunities across all Private Markets sectors.

·         Collection and analysis of market data on target names to be able to accurately prioritize the sales opportunity in Salesforce.com (SFDC).  Use SFDC proactively to ensure the database properly reflects the status of each prospect (both entities and opportunities)

·         Telephone and e-mail marketing to prospect issuers to introduce S&P and to explore rating needs, seize opportunities to organize face-to-face marketing meetings with relevant issuers. 

·         Support development of prospective issuers towards engagement and managing relationships with existing clients.

·         Attending meetings alongside the team to gain experience in pitching S&P services and to learn best practices.

·         Assisting managing clients during the engagement process.  Effectively coordinate within the organization to ensure we execute new business in an efficient and timely manner.

·         Develop and use knowledge garnered from marketing activities to feed ideas into regional event planning and mailings.

·         Preparation of information packs and ad hoc data collection in support of meetings undertaken by the Private Markets team

·         Prepare data for monthly reporting and respond to information requests from internal teams.

·         Demonstrate sound ability to analyze market and client information quickly, and synthesize action items/insights.

 

Basic Qualifications:

·         Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics or related field preferred)

·         2+ years of sales experience ideally within a Debt Capital Markets / Fixed Income arena.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Experience in Private Markets (i.e. Leveraged Finance, Private Equity, Private Debt, Infrastructure, etc.).

·         Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred     

·         Rating Agency Experience

·         Familiarity with Debt Capital Markets and knowledge of finance and accounting principles

·         Sustainability and Environmental Social & Governance (ESG) experience

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $59,800 to $118,900. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is not eligible for additional compensation such as an annual incentive bonus or sales commission plan.
